Sceptered Isle News - Emperor Ssraeshza 1st Attempt

Sceptered Isle News
Vex Thal, 1st Visit

Vex Thal, a zone a lot of us thought we would never be visiting. A vast great quest involved in just obtaining the key to the zone and what a great accomplishment that all was. And so the 1st raid was called, and as it was everyone was shocked to see Vex Thal's 'Kaas Thox Xi Ans Dyek' being the raid target.

Everyone rushed as quick as they could from their existing places to Maiden's Eye, then to Umbral Plains, then eventually up the gigantic steps towards the Vex Thal zone in.

The Scepter of Shadows has been added to your key ring.

You have entered Vex Thal.

First impressions .... 'wow, it's dark in here!'

As people zoned in it was clear to see that this ancient temple was not the sunniest of places. With the main door hardly open to let in the sunshine in it was no wonder that it was dark. A few people asked for Ultravision to help with their not banging into walls. Upon entering no one really knew what to expect so they all huddled close to the zonein and buffed themselves.

The Zone Out. Looks a lot like 2 hands suspending a sphere above them.

So with all the groups sorted and in the raid it was time for the first mob of the raid.

Hail, Zun Va Dyn

Icemana says, 'click Bender, please'

So with the first casualty of the raid being Bender, what an honour, and a quick click and it was back on with the adventuring.

Now the first thing I noticed about the mobs were the strange and unusual names ...

a corporeal shadow
a living shadow
a pool of shadows
a writhing shadow
Eom Centien Xakra
Eom Va Dyn
Eom Zethon Xakra
Pli Senshali Xakra
Qua Centien
Qua Centien Xakra
Qua Senshali Xakra
Qua Thall
Qua Thall Xakra
Qua Va Dyn
Qua Va Liako Xakra
Qua Zethon Xakra
Zov Centien Xakra
Zov Senshali Xakra
Zov Thall Xakra
Zov Va Dyn
Zov Zethon Xakra
Zun Centien
Zun Thall
Zun Va Dyn
Zun Zethon
Zun Zethon Xakra

Anyone know what these stand for? what language they are in? What is the history behind this zone anyway? (more information coming soon after some deeper investigation)

So after actually pondering what it was we were killing there was nothing else to do but kill and clear our way. From the first darkened entrance it was onwards, further round the corner, until we reached a tunnel ...

Where does this take us?

As everyone stood in the tunnel looking outwards into what awaited them, a few more mobs were pulled. One in particular was Va Dyn Khar. After a long battle (mainly due to his large amount of HP) this mob actually dropped something worth any thought over.

I wonder what this opens ...

It was now time to venture out of the tunnel out into the palace courtyard.

The main focus of the courtyard was the statue placed in the centre of a water pool. The path split in two, each leading round the pool and meeting again to focus the path up the stairs towards the palace. The statue one again fit into the theme of the zone, hands and sphere's. The ring in the background also reminded me of the portal to the Emperor's room in Ssra Temple.

Two Guardians stand in position of the Palace door.

A Door. Will Sceptered Isle have problems with this one like so many in the past?

Of course it doesn't. We have a prepared Raid Leader and a Sherezadu to handle such things.

As the palace door opened the interior of the palace was a sight to see. The glistening stone walls with alcoves scattered along them to position mirrored windows and torches to enlighten the palace. The patterned tiled flooring and highly detailed ceiling all added environment variables to the adventuring raiders.

Our destination mob was through about 5 doors and through a whole load of static and wandering mobs. Not much of a problem but what we did start to notice was another guild, Primus Exodus, start to zone in. Information from sources lead to believe that they already had a CotH set up so they could bypass all the work we had gone through. With this in mind Sceptered Isle continued their way forward. A long hallway was next for us to manoeuvre.

Sceptered Isle were now clear to go into the next room. Everyone went in and got prepared to sort out a CotH of our very own. A group got together and just as we were preparing ...

Everyone says, 'WTF?'

A few people saw some non Sceptered Isle people rushing past us just before these 6 or 7 mobs came to help us to our graves.

Why am I always the last to be standing when things go wrong?

So after the wipe a few of the people headed back to the zone in where they awaited the rogues to drag the corpses back.

Sneekz [Primus Exodus]

Sneekz says, 'sorry you guys whiped SI, but I didnt train you, never had any aggro ;/'

The question that came up next ... How did he know about the train and any agro? Suspicions arose.

So after a few discussions about what possibly happened (if it was really Sneekz [Primus Exodus], or if it was Nneena [Farstorm] that was also seen rushing past us at that point, the raid started again from the zone in, but this time having no intention of going after the named mob since there were now 2 or 3 other guilds in the zone competing for it. Instead we were just after another palace key to equip our rogues with.

Not soon after we start we hear ...

Bangador [Primus Exodus] shouts, 'Nice train while we're fighting a named'

It seems Sceptered Isle were not the only ones that got trained and wiped.

And the day just kept getting better ... as Sceptered Isle pulled the mob that drops the Palace Key suddenly everything began to lag. Melee were hitting the mob once every 15 seconds, casters were seeing their casting bar go down and then 10 seconds later they would actually cast. After the mob was finally down and the key looted it was an AE TL out of there to leave the remaining guilds to battle it out.

Overall

It was going so well, a great experience, something that Sceptered Isle can both handle and enjoy however it came to an unexpected tragic end. It wasn't even our fault.

Extra's

Whilst the guild were raiding the new VT zone for the first time others were off out busy finishing their key quest. Congratulations go to both Willowhisper and Fnurra on getting ever closer to the end of the quest and actually obtaining the key.
